Deputy GMA boss denies landguards link, demands an apology

The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Mubarick Masawudu, has demanded a full retraction and public apology from The Insight, The National Enquirer, and the Daily Democrat over a front-page story that linked him to the alleged use of "land guards" in a Spintex land dispute. In a letter dated September 14, 2026, Masawudu's solicitors, LIMO@LAW, told the media houses that the September 10 front-page report, headlined "Maritime Authority Deputy Director Accused of Using Land Guards In Spintex Land Dispute," were false and had exposed their client to "public opprobrium, ridicule and hostility." The lawyers stated categorically that Masawudu "is not a party to, nor in any way connected with," the land dispute referenced in the story, and has not instructed, funded, or otherwise participated in any land-guard activity connected to it. The letter gives the newspapers seven days to publish an unequivocal retraction and apology with the same prominence as the original story, remove the publication from its digital platforms, and cease further circulation of the claims or face legal action "without further notice."
