Zonda Tec deepens investment in Ghana with third vehicle assembly plant

Zonda Tec Ghana Limited says its new vehicle assembly plant will create jobs, develop technical skills and help retain more value from the automotive industry within Ghana. The company said the investment would also support its gradual transition from vehicle trading to local vehicle assembly and production. Chief Executive Officer of Zonda Tec Ghana, Yang Yang, said the decision to establish the plant reflected the company’s growing confidence in Ghana and its long-term plans for the country. Speaking at the commissioning of the facility on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, she said Zonda Tec had come a long way since she arrived in Ghana nearly 20 years ago as a young graduate from China. According to her, the company’s relationship with Ghana had developed beyond business, with the country becoming its “second home”. Yang Yang said the expansion into vehicle assembly was aimed at increasing investment in Ghana while ensuring that more of the economic benefits generated by the company remained in the country. “We want to invest here, we want to create jobs here, we want to train people here. And most importantly, we want more value to stay here in Ghana,” she said. She explained that the plant was not only an expansion of Zonda Tec’s operations but also part of the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s industrial development. She said the facility would provide opportunities for local workers to acquire technical knowledge and skills needed in the automotive sector. Yang Yang also expressed appreciation to the government and relevant institutions, particularly the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, for supporting the company’s growth and investment plans. She said Zonda Tec remained confident in Ghana’s economic prospects and would continue to expand its operations while contributing to the development of the country’s automotive and industrial sectors. The new assembly plant is expected to form part of Ghana’s growing automotive manufacturing ecosystem, with local assembly offering opportunities for job creation, skills development and increased participation of Ghanaian businesses in the automotive value chain.
