Dag Heward-Mills pays tribute to Bernice Offei

The Founder and Leader of Light House Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has paid tribute to the late gospel musician Bernice Offei, describing her as a personal friend whom he had known since their days at Achimota School. Bishop Heward-Mills paid the tribute during a church service in Accra, recalling that he had known Offei since the 1970s, when they were both students at Achimota School. He said Offei lived near his home at the time and was already actively involved in music. “This week, our sister passed away. Very sad. You know, she was my personal friend. When I was in Achimota School, she was also on the Western Compound with Betty, who is like a mother to me.” He added, “She was there also, and she even lived near my house. So she used to sing and all that. And I mean, she’s gone.” Following the tribute, the congregation honoured the late musician with a rendition of her popular gospel song, “Life Is Short.” Bishop Heward-Mills said he would particularly remember Offei for her singing and her involvement in music during their school days. He subsequently led the congregation in prayer, drawing from Psalm 115:14–15 and asking God to increase and bless members of the congregation and their children. Quoting the scripture, he said, “The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.” AM Source: www.ghanaweb.com
