‘Stonebwoy is not my rival; we live just two minutes apart’ - Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has dismissed long-standing claims that he is Stonebwoy’s rival, insisting that their relationship is not as hostile as many people believe. Speaking during a recent interaction on TikTok Live, the ‘On God’ hitmaker said the public and the media have exaggerated the perceived tension between them, stressing that they now live just two minutes away from each other. “If Stonebwoy were my enemy, I wouldn’t live in the same area with him. Stonebwoy doesn’t live at Ashaiman anymore, and I don’t live in the ghetto anymore. We are just two minutes away from each other. I pass in front of his house every time I go out, every single blessed day,” he said. Shatta Wale questioned why people continue to label them as rivals despite their proximity, explaining that people who genuinely dislike each other would avoid any contact. 'Nothing wrong with dropping curtains at the auditorium' - Shatta Wale on Stonebwoy's concert “Don’t come and sit here and say me and Stonebwoy are rivals. Under normal circumstances, when you’re not on talking terms with someone, you don’t even want to walk past their door because you’re angry. If we were rivals, then we can’t live two minutes away from each other,” he stated. According to him, the entertainment industry and the media have influenced public perception of his relationship with Stonebwoy, leading fans to believe there is deep animosity between them. “The media has brainwashed you too much, so when you’re talking, it’s as if you know me and Stonebwoy’s life. It is God that has blessed the two of us,” he said. Reflecting on their journey, Shatta Wale recalled that Stonebwoy once lived in Ashaiman while he grew up in Lartebiokorshie Zongo, noting that both artistes have overcome difficult beginnings to achieve success. “He used to live in Ashaiman; I lived at Lartebiokorshie Zongo. I have really suffered, so if today Stonebwoy and I live in the same area, just two minutes away from each other, and you people are saying he’s my rival, no, don’t say that,” he added. While admitting that he enjoys teasing his colleague from time to time, Shatta Wale urged fans of both camps not to take such moments too seriously or turn them into personal attacks. “I just like teasing, but nobody should go personal. Let’s do things that will make the music healthy,” he concluded.
