Treat new Minerals Commission office with care, discipline – Asantehene

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has charged the management and staff of the Minerals Commission to uphold an uncompromising culture of maintenance, discipline and stewardship to safeguard the Commission’s newly constructed regional office complex in Kumasi.

The Asantehene’s address was delivered on his behalf by the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia II, during the official commissioning of the multi-million-cedi, state-of-the-art facility.

Emphasising that magnificent state assets can quickly deteriorate without deliberate and continuous care, Otumfuo cautioned staff and visitors against the culture of neglect that often affects public infrastructure in the country.

“While we celebrate this achievement, we must also recognise the duty of safeguarding this investment. I urge everyone who steps into this facility to treat it with the utmost care, discipline and stewardship it deserves,” the Asantehene said.

Reflecting on the history of the project, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II disclosed that he had followed its development with keen interest since 2024, when the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace to present the architectural design and project roadmap.

“I share my immense satisfaction with the efforts then, and to see it completed today is truly a source of pride,” the Asantehene noted, commending the ministry and the Commission for delivering what he described as a world-class project.

The newly commissioned complex is designed to serve as the operational nerve centre for mining regulation in the Ashanti Region and beyond. It features modern infrastructure designed to meet international standards.

Key facilities include spacious office accommodation, an in-house guesthouse and rooftop restaurant, as well as full accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The office complex was designed and constructed in line with international accessibility standards to ensure that persons with disabilities can comfortably access and use the facility.

It is also equipped with advanced safety and security systems, including 24-hour CCTV surveillance, automated fire detection and prevention systems, and secure perimeter fencing.
