Musician Deborah Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Derby, has disclosed that she has a “third eye”, a gift she believes allows her to see things before they happen, which she uses to protect herself and her friends.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, the “Kakalika Love” hitmaker noted that even her father tells her she is not developing the gift properly because she does not use it for spiritual practices often.
According to her, she does not want to use the gift to make money, but rather uses it naturally to protect herself and her close associates.
Sister Derby said that if she has a vision about someone she is not close to, she would either pray for the person or have positive thoughts about them.
She explained that she would not publicly claim that she had seen a particular event in a vision simply to boast when it eventually happens.
“Even my father, up till this day, he tells me that I am not developing my gift because he is trying to pull me into the ‘crife’ side. Who told you I don’t use it? If I don’t want to use it to make money, that’s a different thing. If I feel like it is natural and I use it for my friends and things around me, I use it to protect myself. It’s fine.

“If I have a vision about someone and the person is not my friend, I can have positive thoughts for them. I can pray for them. I don’t need to go around boasting about it or talking about it,” she said.
She recalled an incident from her childhood which, according to her, convinced her that she could see things before they happened.
Sister Derby said she was about seven years old when she was involved in a car accident with her brother, Wanlov, in Akosombo.
She recalled that as the accident was happening, she suddenly remembered having dreamt about the exact incident earlier, which made her less panicked despite being injured.
“I can see things. I probably do have a third eye because my parents can testify to it. The vivid ones I remember, we had a car accident when I was about age seven, and as the accident was happening, I was sort of asleep, as in, I had just drifted off. I remembered that I had dreamt of seeing exactly that. I had had that exact dream,” she said.
Sister Derby further stated: “We had a car accident as kids in Akosombo. I remember because Wanlov was driving. Wanlov was 11, and he was driving, but he was not supposed to be driving, obviously. The driver was drunk, so he gave the car to Wanlov.”
She added, “As the accident was happening, I was seated with my hands on the front seat, remembering that I had seen this in a dream. When we got to the hospital, I was the only one not panicking, crying, but my gums were all torn, and there was blood all over my blouse. The doctor said to my mum, ‘In this little girl, you have a man.’”
