Watch as Otumfuo departs Manhyia Palace for US trip

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has departed the Manhyia Palace for the Prempeh I International Airport ahead of his trip to the United States.

In a video shared on social media on Sunday, August 23, 2026, a convoy of vehicles and police escorts could be seen accompanying the Asantehene as he made his way from the Manhyia Palace.

The convoy formed part of the arrangements to escort Otumfuo to the airport ahead of his international journey.

The Asantehene is expected to embark on a week-long programme in the United States, which will culminate in the Akwasidae USA Celebration.

The departure from the Manhyia Palace attracted attention, with several vehicles and police personnel accompanying the traditional ruler along the route to the airport.

Otumfuo’s visit to the United States is expected to include a number of engagements as he participates in activities leading up to the Akwasidae USA Celebration.

His trip comes after members of Asanteman gathered at the airport earlier to bid him farewell and wish him a safe and successful journey.
