No documents needed for salary adjustment - GES to promoted teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has asked newly promoted teachers to ignore requests to submit documents before their salaries are adjusted to reflect their new ranks.

The directive follows reports that some teachers were being asked to provide application letters, promotion letters and other documents before their new salaries could be processed.

In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the GES clarified that promoted teachers are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale based on their new ranks.

According to the Service, this process remains unchanged, and teachers are not required to submit any additional documents.

“This existing practice has not changed. Teachers are, therefore, to ignore the request to submit any documents for salary adjustments,” it added.

The Service said only a few regions and districts were reportedly making such requests and assured teachers that management was engaging those offices to address the issue.

The GES also appealed to affected teachers to remain calm while it works to ensure that the established salary adjustment process is followed across all regions and districts.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that promoted teachers receive the appropriate salaries without unnecessary requirements.
