pic 17407904 The Ghana Police Service has urged motorists and vehicle owners to verify traffic violation notices under the TraffiTech-GH automated enforcement system before making payments to avoid falling victim to fraud.

‎‎Commissioner of Police (COP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director-General of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, said motorists must follow the approved procedures for authenticating violation notices and settling fines.

‎‎In a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency, she said the TraffiTech-GH project, which sought to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations, officially took effect on November 1, 2026.

‎‎COP Ansah-Akrofi advised motorists to first confirm that traffic violation notifications originated from the official sender identification (ID), GPS-MTTD, stressing that legitimate notices would not be sent through ordinary mobile phone numbers.

‎‎She said recipients must also open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket to verify the vehicle’s photograph and registration number, as well as the location, date and time of the recorded offence.

‎‎Where a video was available, motorists were encouraged to watch it to establish the circumstances of the alleged violation before proceeding with payment.

‎‎COP Ansah-Akrofi explained that payments could be made through the National Investment Bank (NIB) Payment Portal by selecting the Make Payment option, entering the Ticket Number, verifying the displayed details and following the payment instructions.

‎‎‎Alternatively, motorists could dial *710*0# and follow the prompts to complete payment using their ticket numbers.

‎‎COP Ansah-Akrofi cautioned motorists and vehicle owners against making payments into personal mobile money numbers or unofficial accounts, emphasising that such channels were not approved for settling traffic fines.

‎‎She urged the public to remain vigilant when handling traffic violation notifications and advised those requiring assistance or further clarification to contact the Police Service on 059 692 2402.

‎‎COP Ansah-Akrofi expressed appreciation to motorists, vehicle owners and transport operators for their cooperation and support towards promoting road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic laws and regulations. Source: GNA
