He said this during a meeting with the Minister for Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Commanders to discuss the incident and concerns raised by the military over portions of a video of his remarks.

In a Facebook post on November 5, 2026, Sam George said he had explained his position to the military leadership and acknowledged how his comments had been received by some members of the Armed Forces.

“The High Command raised concerns about portions of a video in which I addressed my constituents following last Tuesday's incident, during which several residents were assaulted, and three others sustained gunshot wounds.

“I assured the High Command that my remarks were never intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces, an institution I hold in the highest regard, as I stated in that same address,” he wrote.

The meeting followed a joint military and police operation in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, during which several residents were reportedly assaulted, and three others sustained gunshot wounds.

Sam George had earlier criticised the conduct of some soldiers, particularly Lieutenant Albert Goh, whom he accused of leading armed personnel to seize trucks belonging to residents without lawful authority.

In a video that went viral, the minister described the alleged conduct of the soldiers as akin to armed robbery and called on the Chief of Defence Staff to dismiss Lieutenant Goh.

He also warned that soldiers who returned to the constituency to brutalise residents would face the law.

However, following his meeting with the military leadership, Sam George said his concerns remained focused on the conduct of the personnel involved and the harm suffered by his constituents.

He maintained that, as the Member of Parliament for the area, he had a responsibility to speak up for residents.

He also welcomed the Chief of Defence Staff's decision to open an investigation into the incident and expressed hope that the findings would be made public.

“I am therefore encouraged by the Chief of Defence Staff's commitment to open an investigation into the matter, and I trust it will be thorough and that its outcome will be made known,” he stated.

Sam George added that he was ready to work with the military leadership to protect residents' rights while maintaining the reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces.
