The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the family of Akpene Diamond Tetteh, a 37-year-old Ghanaian who was shot dead in the United States, of government support in their quest to get justice for her killing.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs James Gyakye Quayson gave the assurance when the family, led by their lawyer, Chris Ackummey, paid a courtesy call on him on November 4, 2026.

In a social media post following the meeting, Gyakye Quayson said discussions centred on the circumstances surrounding Tetteh's death and the family's efforts to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
According to the family, Tetteh was shot by two 15-year-old juveniles in Georgia on February 12, 2026, barely weeks after completing her PhD.
One of the suspects was arrested and arraigned before a court in Savannah on March 3, 2026. His trial is ongoing, while the second suspect remains at large.
Gyakye Quayson expressed the government's concern over the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the family.
He added that the government remained concerned about the safety and welfare of Ghanaians living abroad.
The Deputy Minister also indicated that the Ministry would provide assistance within its mandate and explore other available avenues for government support.
