Bono Region Starts Door-To-Door COVID-19 Vaccination

The Bono Regional Directorate collaborating with Jhpiego Ghana has started a six-day door-to-door COVID vaccination exercise in the Bono Region as part of its measures to get more people vaccinated against the COVID virus in the country.

Of the 860,000 people eligible for the vaccinations, 415,154 people constituting 48.2%, successfully had their first dose in the Bono Region.

The Bono Regional Deputy Director, Prince Quarshie, said the exercise is to get more people vaccinated in the region. By the end of 2022, they would have boosted the demand and met the target of the eligible population.

“We hope that with the cooperation and availability of the people, we will be able to reach our target. Our target is not much; we wish to vaccinate over 50,000 people. If we do not meet our target, we should be very close to it, at least 90% of our target,” Quarshie said.

The economic challenges have overshadowed the existence of COVID-19 in the country. Most Ghanaians seem to have forgotten that the virus is still around and, therefore, need to stay safe and get vaccinated.

As of Monday, 14 November, Bono Region had over 2,600 COVID-19 cases. It recorded 2,595 recoveries, five active cases, and 99 deaths.
