In addition to thrilling performances, the Rapperholic Homecoming Concert—already tipped to be one of the most exciting nights on Ghana's music calendar—brought about an emotional experience that will never be forgotten. In a stirring display of respect and gratitude, Ghana's most well-known rapper, Sarkodie, dropped to his knees and gave rap icon Obrafour an embrace in front of thousands of excited fans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. When Obrafour, who is regarded as the "Rap Sofo" and is considered to be one of the most influential figures in Ghanaian hiplife and rap culture, joined Sarkodie on stage, the scene began. Sarkodie startled the audience by lowering himself on his knees and clinging to Obrafour without getting up, in contrast to the customary handshake or quick embrace that is expected at such occasions.
The stadium shook as a result of the gesture. While some fans used their phones to record the moment, others let out wild cheers. It was hailed by many as one of the most heartfelt tributes ever witnessed in Ghana's entertainment sector. Sarkodie has frequently discussed how Obrafour influenced his musical development. He has referred to the seasoned rapper as a mentor, a guide, and a major factor in his decision to take rap seriously in a number of interviews. It has been said that Obrafour's iconic 1999 album Pae Mu Ka influenced a whole generation of Ghanaian rappers, including Sarkodie. Sarkodie seemed to be publicly expressing his thanks by kneeling and hugging Obrafour, recognizing that his own success on a worldwide scale is based on the work of trailblazers like Obrafour.
