Sports Ministry won’t pay Stevanovic’s debt

The Ghanaian Ministry of Youth and Sports has ruled itself out from any financial affairs surrounding Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic if he is sacked.

Saturday’s edition of the state owned Graphic Sports quotes a ministry source as saying they will not be responsible for the payment of the Serbian if he is sacked by the Ghana FA.

A final decision on his future will be announced next week after an Executive Committee meeting with the coach, but in the interim his 135,000 Euro send-off pay will have to be found elsewhere other than from the ministry which is already responsible for paying part of his 45.000 us dollars.

According to the Graphic Sports' source, the "Ministry is happy that it has been kept abreast with the issues on the coach and will support the GFA. However, with so much money already spent on the Stars and more to be spent with the impending CAN 2013 and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, the Ministry will not want to be saddled with further financial burden.”
