Stoke City pushing to sign Daniel Opare to replace Biram Diouf

Stoke City wants to sign Ghana international Daniel Opare to fill their problematic right wing-back position which is currently being occupied by Senegal star Mame Biram Diouf.

Manager Mark Hughes has been criticised for trying to play a wing-back system this season with no recognised attacking full-backs in his squad.

And The Sun claims Hughes hopes to fill the void by pursuing a January deal for the Augsburg defender, who is valued at around £2.5m.

In an “exclusive” article, Mike McGrath writes: “Since Hughes switched tactics to playing three at the back, he has employed striker Mame Biram Diouf in the wide role out on the right.

"But although Diouf has adapted well to his new position, he is not seen as a long-term solution and Hughes would rather bring in someone more specialised in the role."
