Real Zaragoza players were happy to see Raphael Dwamena back to the gym on Monday.

The Ghanaian international has been out of active football since the start of the season.

A device known as Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) has been implanted in his heart to protect the player from a sudden heart attack.

The device has been implanted for the treatment of life-threatening arrhythmia and prevention of sudden death while playing the game.

The 24-year-old has been working in the gym under the guidance trainer Javier Chocarro and the recuperator Andrés Ubieto.

Dwamena is under 24-hour medical surveillance as he battles to get his career back on track.

He was ruled out of action indefinitely after being diagnosed with a pulmonary condition last year October and underwent a successful operation at the Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza.

However, Dwamena is considering going under the knife to get his footballing career back on track.

He later joined La Liga side Levante UD in August 2018 before he was loaned out to Zaragoza for one year in July last year.

Dwamena has a €800,000 annual contract with UD Levante which will expire in 2022.
