Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have ruled the FIFA Ballon D’or awards for the past eight years and its not easy seeing anyone take over from them soon.

It is even more unlikely to see the winner of the biggest footballing accolade emerge from Africa.

The last and only time an African won the gong was in 1995, when George Weah of Liberia playing for Milan, won the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

But according to ex-Ghana Olympic star, Solar Ayew, Swansea City’s Jordan Ayew is highly tipped to be the next African to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or.

Solar, the brother of Ghana legend Abedi Pele, insists Jordan Ayew is blessed with an enormous talent that could see him win the top award soon.

In an interview with GBC Sunrise FM, Solar described Jordan as the most talented of the Ayew family and it would’nt take too long for him to win the Ballon d’Or.
“As for Jordan, I can say without doubt that he will be the next Oppong Weah to win the FIFA World Best from Africa”, Solar Ayew said.

“The family is grooming him and we want to keep him on a low key, but the target is for him to win the World best soon, which is within his reach”.

Several Ghana football greats like Nii Odartey Lamptey have described Jordan as the most talented of his time, saying he will not be surprised if he makes it to the pinnacle of world football.

The forward who is the youngest of all Abedi Pele’s sons has been a shining light for Premier League side Swansea City.

Football legend, and father of the Ayews, Abedi Ayew Pele has rated Jordan Ayew as the most talented of all his three sons even though Andre has had a blistering start to his career.

Jordan Ayew made his first senior appearance for Ghana on 5 September 2010, in a 3–0 2012 AFCON Qualification match win against Swaziland and has scored 12 goals in 46 CAPS.
