Ghanaian players to watch this weekend

Christian Atsu is expected to start for Newcastle United as they head to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. The Magpies have registered just six points from their last eight games and Atsu will hope to have a good game against his former club in order to help Newcastle pick at least a point to help in their relegation struggles.

Jordan Ayew The year 2019 has so far been good for Jordan Ayew. The 27-year-old is now boasting of two goals from two games after failing to score even one last year for Crystal Palace. With the Eagles hosting Watford at Selhurst Park on Saturday in the Premier League, Ayew will definitely start the game with Andros Townsend and Wilfred Zaha upfront and he looks to continue his fine form to help them move up the table. Jeffrey Schlupp may start from the bench.

Mubarak Wakaso Wakaso Mubarak is available for Deportivo Alaves' selection after serving his ban but he is likely to start from the bench against Girona on Saturday. The midfielder hasn't had the best of the games recently with The Glorious One although they are currently sitting fourth on La Liga table. He has made 12 appearances and would hope to play a role in the game since a win could help them overtake third-placed Sevilla.

Majeed Waris Ghana striker Majeed Abdul Waris would wish to build on his performance in mid-week as they host Rennes in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The 27-year-old, who notched his second goal of the campaign against Montpellier in a 2-0 win, head into this fixture with the aim of scoring his 31st goal in the competition after three seasons. French-born midfielder of Ghanaian descent Enock Kwarteng will likely maintain his place in the starting XI.

Albert Adomah Albert Adomah will be in action on Saturday when Aston Villa visit Wigan Athletic in the Championship. Unlike scoring 14 goals last season, the Ghanaian is yet to break his duck this term after making 18 appearances including 11 starts. With Villa sitting 10th on the table, a win for Adomah's side could see them moving three places up to enhance their chances of playing in the play-off as they hope to make a return to the Premier League.
