Manager of Crystal Palace Roy Hodgson has acknowledged the importance of Jordan Ayew in his setup after providing the match-winner in their game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Jordan Ayew solo strike was enough for his side to pick all three points over Brighton and Hove Albion and is the clubs, top scorer, with eight goals this season.

According to the manager, Ayew has scored a large proportion of their goals and is of the view his contribution to the team has been enormous this season.

“His contribution without goals is enormous. His work rate, desire and that constant thorn in the opposing team’s defense are mammoths. When we lose the ball, he’s so quick to get back in position and help us out defensively which is something you need and it’s contributed to our last two” he said.

Despite fans of the club raising concerns about his goal-scoring rate before the start of the season, the manager said “We knew what he is, we knew what he could do,”

“But of course last year he didn’t score many goals, and that was something that bothered him and was a factor for us.

“Are we going to get the goals out of him that we need? And that’s what he’s started to do this year.”

Crystal Palace occupies 12 the position on the league log with 36 points and is currently closed to safety from relegation.

Another win should secure safety for Hodgson’s side as they face relegation-battling Watford on Saturday, March 7.
