Companies gear up for 2019 Freight Forwarders Friendly Corporate Gala

The El-Wak Sports Stadium will be the action spot on Saturday, June 29 when the second edition of the Freight Forwarders friendly Corporate Gala and Games comes off.

Participating companies will battle it out in the various sporting competitions which will test their physical and mental prowess, including men and women football, basketball, swimming, table tennis, sack race, volleyball, tug of war, lime and spoon among other interesting games.

The event which is powered by the Freight Forwarders Fun club will see about 12 freight forwarding companies competing in different sporting disciplines for trophies and bragging rights.

Since its maiden edition in 2017, the gala remains the biggest gathering of freight forwarding firms and presents an opportunity for them to compete in various sporting activities, network and have fun.

Already companies like DHL, Freight Consult, Stellar Logistics, Bollore Logistics, Baj Freight and McDan Group, Swissport, and De Royals have confirmed their participation in the game.

Even before the official draw is held, players of the teams are already issuing warnings to their potential opponents.

Richard Apawu of De Royals brags that he is going clock three goals in every game.

“We are going to win the football competition. See, I have experience as a former player in the Ghana Premier League so none of the teams can stand us. I will score three goals in every game” he bragged.

Edward Todzro who is part of the organizing committee and a player for Bollore Logistics is expecting the event to be a grand celebration of the unity and oneness among the freight forwarding companies.



“This is the second edition and we are expecting it to be very great. We did the first one in 2017 and it was fun and highly patronized. A lot of company have come on board this so we expect to be bigger than the previous one. There will be jamma groups and filled with a lot fun. As a worker of Bollore, I can assure you that we are going to sweep all the trophies”.

For Richard Yeboah of DHL, this is the opportune time for them to avenge their painful defeat to McDan in the semi-final of the 2017 football competition.

“Last two years was fantastic but it was unfortunate that we were beaten by McDan in the semi-final but this time we have done our homework well and we are going to wear the crown”, he said.
