In efforts to protect and secure Ghana’s remaining forest, Touton Ghana, a signatory to the Cocoa & Forest Initiative is implementing action plans to support sustainable cocoa production and farmer livelihoods, promote social inclusion and community engagement to address deforestation and land degradation. Project partners include Touton Ghana, COCOBOD, Forestry Commission, SNV Ghana, Nature Conservation Research Centre (NCRC) and AgroEco with funding from the UK government through the Partnership for Forest programme.

Association football has over the years been used as a powerful tool to unite people and achieve other pertinent social goals. To create awareness and sensitize communities for protecting the forest and sustainable cocoa production, project partners have put together a classic football gala involving ten CREMAs namely: River Sukusuku, River Debe, Asuo Bia Nkyirima, Elliorkrom Stool lands, Asuopiri, Juaboso District, Krokosue Hills, Kwamebikrom Stool lands, Manzan Stool lands and Yawmetwa Ntewura in the Juaboso-Bia landscape in Western North Region.

The gala is scheduled for the 26th of April, 2019 at Sefwi Asempaneye in the Northern part of Western Region. Youth in the above CREMAs will have the opportunity to interact with Ghana's ace Comedian, Akrobeto, who will be the special guest.

GJA Radio Sports journalist of the year and three-time Commentator of the year, Dan Kwaku Yeboah, will run an exciting commentary on the sidelines to entertain the youth, farmers and the entire community.

Each participating team will receive a handsome cash reward as appearance fees, whilst the winner takes home a glittering trophy. The finals will take place in August, 2019.
