ERFA to launch division two and juvenile football tournament

The Eastern Regional Football Association (RFA), in collaboration with the football clubs in the region, will the Eastern Cup and Juvenile competition for both division two and juvenile clubs on April 4.

At a stakeholders meeting held for juvenile clubs in Koforidua, it was agreed that the juvenile league would be named "Eastern Cup Juvenile Special Tournament", with about 160 Under-13 and 15 clubs, expected to participate in the juvenile competition.

They would be grouped into 16 zones of which each team, would play ten matches and the winners of the zones, would progress to the next stage of the competition.

Winners of the competition would take home a trophy and a cash prize for the winner.

Mr. Linford Asamoah, the Acting Easting Regional Chairman of the Association, tasked all District Juvenile Chairmen to draw a road map for the juvenile teams in their districts to come out with good clubs for the region.

He encouraged the clubs to register their players into the FIFA biometric system, to benefit from onward transfers when their players sign professional contracts.

Mr. Asamoah advised team officials to take advantage of refresher courses to upgrade their knowledge and to enhance football development in the region.

He urged colts football teams in the region to have proper planning to attract sponsorship to support their activities.
