Saddick Adams hopeful of qualification despite narrow CARA win

Kotoko beat CARA Brazzaville in their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round qualifier Kotoko beat CARA Brazzaville in their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round qualifier

Asante Kotoko striker Saddick Adams is confident of his side's chances of making it to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko recorded a 1-0 victory against their Congolese opponents courtesy a Yakubu Mohammed’s late penalty strike at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Qualification now looks a bit gloomy as Kotoko will have to avoid a loss in Brazzaville. But the top marksman believes they will succeed if their game is similar to Sunday’s performance.

“We believe in ourselves and the quality we possess. Our penalty misses were not a matter of us not eager to score. Sometimes it happens in football and we were just not lucky.

“I hope we play well in Congo and utilise our chances. We expect a difficult game and a different atmosphere but we trust our quality just like we did yesterday,” Saddick told Silver FM.

The return fixture of this exciting contest that produced five penalties promises to be an epic encounter in Congo. That game is scheduled for February 21.
