Jerry Akaminko’s Eskisehirspor conceded five minutes into injury time against Goztepe before going on to lose 4-3 on penalties to miss out on promotion back to Turkey’s top league on Sunday.

Akaminko who is expected to join the Black Stars in camp this week ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, started on the bench and came on in extra time in the game which finished 1-1.

24 year old Nigerian striker, Chikeluba Ofoedu put Eskisehirspor ahead on 54 minutes in the clash between the teams which finished 3rd and 5th respectively in the 2016/17 Turkey second tier league.

It appeared to be enough to secure the win and with it promotion back into the big time for Akaminko’s side but not for Macedonia hitman, Adis Jahovic who struck after 90+5 minutes to tie the game and send the decider to extra time.

It also finished level, leaving the dreaded penalty shoot-out as the only resort which was duly won 4-3 by Goztepe.
