Medeama through to play-off round of Conf. Cup

Ghana’s sole representative in continental club football, Medeama SC have qualified to the play-off round of the Caf Confederation Cup at the expense of Zesco United.

The Mauves booked their qualification spot on Sunday afternoon despite losing 0-1 to the Zambian side at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Medeama, who are the reigning FA Cup champions in Ghana, won the first leg 2-0 at the Sekondi Stadium last week, thanks to Nathaniel Asamoah and Michael Helegbe.

The 2-1 aggregate victory takes Medeama to the final qualifying round ahead of the draw on Tuesday.

The eight teams who have been eliminated from the Caf Champions League will be paired with the teams that have made it to the 1/8th stage of the Caf Confederation Cup.
