Sumaila makes injury return in Sundwons win

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila returned to first team action for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The ex-Asante Kotoko centre back came on in the dying minutes to provide an extra defensive shield for Pitso Mosimane’s side who saw out an attacking onslaught from the Buccaneers to clinch all three points.

The Ghana international gets a taste of Premier League action for the first time in the second half of the season after recovery from a knee injury.

Sumaila came on in the 88th minute to replace striker Khama Billiat to tighten things at the back for the Brazilians.

His injury return coincided with the debut of fellow Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who replaced the injured Senzo Mayiwa.
