Mahatma to renew Hearts contract

Hearts of Oak captain Mahatma Otoo is not interested in leaving at the end of his contract, according to officials.

The Phobians have given the striker a two-week ultimatum to make up his mind regarding a possible contract renewal. Otoo, who has been impressive this season in the Ghana Premier League, is reported to be on the radar of several clubs including Sunderland, Mamelodi Sundowns and Olympique Lyon.

The spokesperson of Hearts of Oak, Muhaed Saeed, has disclosed that the 21-year-old player is willing to renew his contract, but for his manager.

“Mahatma himself is interested in staying at Hearts but we are facing a difficulty from his manager,” Saeed told Accra-based Adom FM.

Touching on the timeline given to the player to think through his future with the club, Saeed said it was imperative in order not to be taken by surprise.

“We have to plan for the coming season so we want to be sure whether we will have him for next season or not,” he said.
