President and Chairman of Groupe Nduom (GN), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has waded into the ongoing matters at the paralysed Ghana Football Association (GFA), advising those who have begun lobbying for top positions to stop.

According to him, this was not the time to lobby government or the clubs for GFA positions.

In a message on his Facebook page posted at the weekend, the astute businessman, politician and football enthusiast stated: “Those going around and making attempts to form interim GFA Executive Committees must stop.”

Dr Nduom, who is also the owner of the Fearsome Elmina Sharks, a premiere club in Ghana, in the post stated categorically that: “The problems faced by football in Ghana did not end with the resignation of Kwasi Nyantakyi. We need a complete overhaul and perhaps a whole new organisation altogether!”

In his opinion, there was no doubt that there was a crisis in football in Ghana.

He asked: “So whose responsibility is it to solve the crisis? Sportswriters, players, football team managers, association executives, government officials and many others have jumped into the arena.”

“What about the owners of the football clubs? The people who have invested hundreds of thousands of Cedis, sometimes millions to give employment to players, coaches, administrators, and others?

Dr Nduom recently wrote about the problems encountered in the football league including corruption and received all manner of insults and accusations.

“With the Anas #12 video, everyone is jumping into the act. Some are even bypassing the rules and regulations that govern association football,” he stated.

He, however, suggested that it may be time to organise an alternative football competition, a private sector initiative led by club owners – with discipline.

Ghana risks sanctions from football governing body, FIFA, following a decision by the government to dissolve the GFA and suspend all officials; a decision, which has been hailed by many Ghanaians. However, there could be severe repercussions.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, 7th June, 2018 announced that his government would take steps to dissolve the GFA after private investigative company, Tiger Eye PI, documented rampant bribery and corruption in the game.

Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, was seen in the video allegedly convincing undercover agents to bribe top government officials for a chance to control football in Ghana.

The suspended FIFA council member has since been charged with defrauding with false pretence and could be sentenced to prison for 25 years if found guilty.
