Quincy Owusu-Abeyie in Ghana squad to face Sudan

Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has returned to the Black Stars after a one-year absence, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The Greece-based star is part of Ghana’s squad to face Sudan in the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month.

Abeyie has hardly played for the Black Stars since the World Cup in South Africa last year but after excellent start to the season he has been handed a recall.

“I have received my invitation for camping ahead of the Sudan game,” Abeyie told MTNFootball.com.

The Dutch-born player’s return comes after coach Goran Stevanovic monitored his performances before watching him in action when his club Panathinaikos’ drew 1-1 with Atromitos three weeks ago.

His return is an attempt by the Serbian coach to boost his squad ahead of the game in Sudan.

Ghana need a draw in Khartoum on 8 October to be able to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
