Ghana’s Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Marfo will be leading a government delegation to FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland to meet the world football governing body over the impasse in Ghana football.

Yaw Osafo-Marfo was appointed by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead a 4-member team to Zurich to hold talks with FIFA over their threat to ban Ghana from all football-related activities in the aftermath of the Anas documentary.

The Government of Ghana led by the Attorney General attempted a dissolution of the football association in an Accra High Court after the documentary caught some Ghanaian football administrators in mass corruption but there have not been any proper measures from the Government for football reforms three months after the exposé.

FIFA in a statement on Tuesday stated that the Government of Ghana is using an “undue influence” to contravene the rules of the association and has issued a warning to the Government of Ghana to retract the matter away from court or faces ban from all football-related activities before 27th August, 2018.

The President of Ghana has charged the former Youth and Sports Minister, Yaw Osafo-Marfo, under whom Ghana had her first world cup qualification to Germany in 2006 to use his vast experience in football to persuade FIFA soften their stances on banning Ghana.

Government of Ghana have previously met with FIFA delegations on three occasions with the former creating impressions of the latter agreeing with the steps taken by Ghana Government to dissolve the GFA.

The Government delegation are expected to travel to Switzerland on Wednesday evening and expected to return before Friday, 17 August, 2018.
