Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sport, has said the New Edubiase Sports Stadium will be re-designed to conform to the approved international standards, with modern facilities.

According to him, the stadium which had been abandoned for years, would see a major face-lift, adding that he had called for a meeting with the contractor to devise possible ways of adding value to the edifice.

He said one of the major areas to be worked on, was to make the playing field conform to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) standards.

The member of Parliament for the Atwima Mponua constituency made this known when he visited the project site at New Edubiase to inspect work done by the previous government.

"With President Akufo Addo's commitment to using sports as a major tool to creating employment and providing platform for sports development, it was very necessary we came to New Edubiase to inspect what had been done so far.

"I have called for a meeting with the contractor and experts in my office to have a second look at the project plan and re-design it to conform to modern stadium that would serve multiple purposes".

He noted that funding had been secured for the project that would have over twenty sporting disciplines when completed.

"This project would be funded by the National Youth Authority (NYA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"It falls under the multi-purpose youth center projects being built all over the country," he concluded.

Mr. George Oduro, member of Parliament for New Edubiase, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Agriculture noted that the project, when completed, would help unearth the talents that abound in his constituency.

He said the completion of the project was one of his topmost priorities when he won the seat at the constituency because the chunk of his constituents were youth and needed a decent sporting facility to nurture and develop as well as curb social vices.

The project, which was budgeted at GH 5.4 at the first phase in 2016 when completed would have a football pitch, Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre, tartan tracks, gym, handball and volley ball courts as well as other sporting disciplines.
