MTN FA CUP: Edubiase win toss to become home team in Cup final

New Edubiase United will be the home side when they meet Obuasi Ashanti Gold in the grand finale of this year’s MTN FA Cup scheduled for the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday 29th July.

Edubiase earned the right and opportunity to wear their home jersey after winning a toss against Ashanti Gold at a special ceremony in Accra on Monday. The Toss of Coin was done today, Monday, July 23, 2012 at the GFA Board Room at 11am.

The toss of the coin to determine which team would be considered the home team etc had become necessary due to the similarities regarding jersey colors of both teams.

Ashanti Gold SC was respresented by James Owuraku Mantey (Dep Accra Rep) and Daniel Asamoah (Ash Gold Captain)

New Edubiase United was represented by Alex Ackumey - Dep CEO of the club. New Edubiase beat Wassaman 1-0 on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium to earn their place in the prestigious tournament.

Substitute Emmanuel Nti Mensah scored the decisive goal in the second half against relegated Premiership side, Wassaman to take their place against AshantiGold on July 29 in the finals.

The winner of next week's game will represent Ghana at the next CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Meanwhile the FA Cup committee would hold a pre- match press conference at the media center of the Accra Sports stadium on Wednesday, July 25. Time is 2pm exactly and would be live on Metro TV and GTV Sports+, Skyy TV & Multi TV
