The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpone Katamanso in the Greater Accra Region, Solomon Tetteh Appiah, has declared to ruthlessly deal with families that organize funerals in defiance to the ban on social and public gatherings.

Solomon Tetteh Appiah disclosed this to Nana Yaw Opare on Mantam Mpuntuo on Onua 95.1 FM on Tuesday, May 19, stressing that there will be no funeral in Kpone Katamanso and offenders will be arrested and be made to face the full rigours of the law.

He noted that the Assembly’s task force together with the security agencies will be randomly patrolling the metropolis and apprehending families who reluctantly flout President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s order.

“When persuasion fails force is applied. I will apply force and latest by Friday I am meeting all the clans of Kpone village. There will be no more funeral and I am sounding this caution before meeting them.

“Whoever flouts this directive will be made to face full rigours of the law in ensuring people comply with all the protocols put across by Ghana Health Service and there would be no excuses,” he added.

Solomon Tetteh also revealed that the Assembly has adopted new strategies in enhancing the fight against the novel coronavirus disease in the metropolis.

He said all the 79 cases were imported through inter-trading at markets in the Assembly but was optimistic the new strategies would go a long way to curb community spread.

He thus appealed to the general public especially traders to be vigilant and comply with all protocols in protecting themselves, families and other people from contracting the disease
