Ashanti Foam Company Limited (Ashfoam) has unveiled head coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah as an ambassador of the company.

The Black Stars coach on Thursday, August 25 2018, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashfoam to become a brand advocate of the company by promoting their products.

The one-year deal which is subjected to renewal will see the Black Stars coach pocket GHC, 50,000 in cash and an additional GHC50,000 worth of products such as furniture, towel, bedsheets and mattresses from Ashfoam.

Nana Yaw Ampem Darko Antwi, Communications and Marketing Director of Ashfoam explained that the deal is a form of goodwill to Kwesi Appiah for his commitment to the welfare of retired footballers in the country.

AshFoam partners Kwesi Appiah Foundation to support aged footballers

AshFoam also announced a partnership with the Kwesi Appiah Foundation that will see them inject GHC80,000 into the foundation purposely for the well-being of former footballers who currently find it difficult to make end’s meet after hanging their boots.

Per the agreement, the ex-footballers will receive a monthly emolument from Ashanti Foam Company Limited for the next 12 months.

Nana Yaw Ampem Darko Antwi, Communications and Marketing Director of Ashfoam noted with disappointment the poor state of some the former footballers and emphasized on the need for the state, corporate bodies and private individuals to support the men credited with winning Ghana’s 4 AFCON titles.

“These are eminent personalities who have made the country proud. Some of us never saw them play but we have heard from our fathers and grandfathers the kind of contribution they selfishly gave to our country. Ghana. Football has reached its echelons because of their efforts, toil and sacrifice. Young people are today enjoying this kind of history. In their days' footballers did not earn a lot”.

Coach Kwesi Appiah expressed his profound gratitude to the management of Ashfoam for agreeing to come to the aid of the aged footballers and counselled active footballers to put their earnings to good use so as not to fall victim of the ‘from riches to rag’ tag, when they retire.
