Ghana’s second-hand clothing trade hub, Kantamanto, is yet to bounce back for business barely 48 hours after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lifted the partial lockdown in Ghana.

A visit to the area by TV3’s Mercydalyne Lokko on Tuesday revealed empty stalls as most of the traders were absent.

Those who had come were not engaged in any activity, she reported.

They said they are still observing the situation and are likely to start work from Wednesday, which is also a market day.

Speaking in an interview, one of the traders, Auntie Maggie, said traders have planned to clean up the market first before starting business on Wednesday.

She said their wares are safe contrary to reports that the three-week lockdown has had an effect on quality.

Meanwhile, hawking activities on pavements and streets have returned to Central Business District of Accra.

Hawkers were seen doing brisk business though not at the same level on a normal day.
