Kwesi Appiah has been dealt with a huge blow as midfielder Mubarak Wakaso suffered a fresh injury which is set to rule him out of the Black Stars’ international assignments against South Africa and Sao Tome this month.

Wakasu missed Deportivo Alaves 4-2 defeat to Osasuna on Sunday in the Spanish La Liga after suffering a fracture in the metacarpus of his right hand.

The midfielder will undergo further test today to determine the extent of injury and how long he will be out.

His absence will be a big blow for the Deportivo Alaves, who are currently lying 16th on the table, just two points off relegation.

Should the injury turned out to be serious, Ghana’s coach Kwesi Appiah may be force to invite replacement for the hard working midfielder for the two games.

Ghana will face South Africa and Sao Tome in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.
