Former head coach of Asante Kotoko and the Somalian national team, Bashir Hayford says he was encouraged by Francis Oti Akenteng to apply for the vacant GFA Technical Director role.

The GFA Technical Director role became vacant after the contract expiration of Francis Oti Akenteng about a week ago.

In an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, he said he has all the requisite skill-set to fill in the shoes of Oti Akenteng.

“I hold an International Football Coaching Certificate. I did it in Hungary. I qualify to work in every country that is affiliated to the Olympic Committee. I have prepared myself well for any job related to football, whether is administration, Technical or Management.

“It was Oti Akenteng who encouraged me to apply for the role after telling me his tenure of office will end in March. He said I am the best to replace him. Again, one of the Executive Council members told me to send him a copy of my CV because he’s so interested in me at the post.

“I am confident in the Ghana Football Association vision plus the Technical Directorate vision. I think we can work hard should the FA give me the Technical Director job,” he concluded.

Bashir Hayford now joins Ghana legend Malik Jabir who has also made his application for the vacant position public.
