Hearts not platform to relaunch careers - Management

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has said that the club is not a platform for players that left the club under bizarre circumstances to relaunch their careers.

This follows a feud between former player Charles Taylor and Dr. Nhayo Nhayo-Tamakloe, a Board Member of the club, who is reported to have said that the club would not be a career relaunching platform for old players.

Taylor was reported to have made unpleasant comments about the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), describing him as “archaic and inimical to the club’s growth.”

A club statement released on Friday said that Dr. Tamakloe’s comments “is the board’s well-considered decision” not to welcome back to the club players who left under circumstances similar to Taylor’s departure some years ago.

“It is unfortunate to have heard another old player of the club, Dan Quaye make similar remarks against Nyaho Tamakloe.

“In fact, we expected these players to have known better and therefore appealed to all who have the club at heart to report their grievances through the appropriate channel.

“We want to state further that should Hearts decide to take back any of our former players it would be based on a thorough assessment and under terms that are mutually beneficial.

“It is about time young local footballers are given the opportunity to shine but players should never forget the sacrifices club owners make in the provision of platforms for their developments,” the statement said.

The statement advised former players and administrators against making unguarded statements about the club as it does not serve the interest of the club.
