Asante Kotoko General Manager George Amoako has defended C.K Akonnor’s defensive approach in the 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks last Saturday during the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup First round tie.

The Kenyans- who defeated Djibouti’s Arts Solar7 by 9-1 on aggregate to reach this stage – failed to breach the defence of the Porcupine Warriors and Amoako says his team went into the game with a strategy not to lose.

“We knew what we wanted going into the game and we have done that perfectly right.” George Amoako who was in Kasarani said.

“We told ourselves we shouldn’t lose but if there is any chance for us to win it we take it. But we went into it not to take any goals.

We needed to conserve energy to maintain a respectable scoreline and that is exactly what we did. If we had opened up we could have scored them many goals. Look how many tines did they even threaten our goalkeeper.” He quizzed.

“Kumasi people should expect us. We are coming to finish them at home” Mr.Amoako confidently declared.
