GPL Preview: Elmina Sharks eye Medeama SC scalp in Elmina

Premier league new babies, Elmina Sharks will be eyeing for a scalp against Medeama SC in the week 17 of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier league encounter at the Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina on Sunday afternoon.

Both coaches will be displaying their technical and tactical nous on the day to see who comes on top.

Elmina Sharks have been terrific at Home in their debut season, off eight matches, Sharks have won four, drawn two and lost two. They have scored seven goals and conceded five in the process.

Medeama SC, on the other hand, have been woeful away from Home this term. Out of seven matches played, the Yellow and Mauves have won one, drawn three and lost three. They have scored six goals and conceded nine.

This is the second time the two are meeting in the top flight. Both met in the first round where it finished 3-1 in favour of Medeama.

The Homers are 11th on the standings with 18 points after 16 games whilst the Visitors are currently sitting 7th on the league log with 21 points.

Benjamin Tweneboah is Sharks' topscorer this season with four goals whereas Bernard Ofori leads the scoring chart at Medeama SC with seven after bagging three goals in his team's 5-1 demolishing of Bolga All Stars last weekend.

Elmina Sharks lost last weekend's game 3-1away to Dwarfs while Medeama SC thrash Bolga All Stars 5-1 at Home.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko will take on Great Olympics. The Porcupines Warriors have gained a bit of form under new English trainer, Steve Pollack following two wins on the spin against Proud United in the MTN FA Cup and Tema Youth in the league and will hope to make it three when they tackle rejuvenated Great Olympics at their own backyard.
