Public Relations Officer of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Otuo Acheampong Barima Boadaa has confirmed that his outfit is looking to organize a mini-tournament in a bid to keep the clubs active.

Reports in the media indicate that GHALCA which is the mother of clubs in the West African country, has received a proposal from broadcast partners StarTimes to organize a tournament in place of the truncated football league campaign.

According to the GHALCA press release, the proposed tournament is set to be called the StarTimes Cup.

The proposed tournament will be featured by teams both from the Premier League and Division One League Clubs.

Filling the void created by the truncated Premier League as well as sustaining the interest of the supporters are a couple of objectives mentioned in the statement with regards to the proposed league.

Mr. Otuo Acheampong, who is popularly known in football circles as ‘Sometymer’, confirmed the report to Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports during an interview with Ohene Bampoe–Brenya.

“We want to organise a competition to keep the clubs active since we don’t know when the Normalization committee will come and when active football will resume in the country,” he told Happy FM.

“The number of clubs that respond to us will indicate the number of clubs that will partake. Clubs that are available and willing to join will make up the competition.”

“We are giving clubs up to 28th of September to respond to us if they want to be part of our competition.”

The local game have been suspended following Anas Aremeyaw Anas Number ’12’ video which uncovered massive corruption and other illegalities in the game.
