The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Women's Organiser of Ellembelle Constituency in the Western Region, Miss Gifty Araba Kwofie as her efforts to help fight the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, has distributed nose masks to all food vendors at Salman Community.

In his recent national broadcast on TV, President Akufo-Addo directed all Ghanaians to wear nose masks when going out to avoid contracting and spreading of the deadly Coronavirus.

In this regard, the Ellembelle NDC Deputy Women's Organiser realized that some food vendors in some villages in Ellembelle District are not using nose masks to protect themselves and others.

She has, therefore, distributed over 1,000 nose masks to food vendors in some villages in the District apart from Salman being the first beneficiary Community.

Speaking in an interview, after the distribution at Salman over the weekend, Miss Araba Kwofie emphasized that the fight against this deadly Coronavirus was a shared responsibility.

She disclosed that she had the vision to distribute free nose masks to some food vendors after touring some villages in the District to see whether they were using nose masks to sell their food.

She said after visiting those villages she realized that majority of the sellers were not using nose masks and added that these vendors were not safe.

Miss Araba Kwofie and her team seized the opportunity to educate them about the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

They urged them to wash their hands with soap under running water frequently and also observe social distancing protocol, adding "don't shake hands with others, don't go out indiscriminately, use hand sanitizers when necessary, put on nose masks when going out, do regular exercise and drink more water to build your immune system".

The NDC Women's Organiser took the opportunity to pledge to distribute the rest of the nose masks subsequently.

"I will distribute the rest of the items to the rest of the villages in the coming days and I am doing this gesture not on partisan based, I am only giving to food vendors irrespective of their political affiliations because this deadly Coronavirus pandemic doesn't know NDC members or NPP members", she stated.

"I will like to say a big thank to my wonderful and hardworking team for supporting me to distribute these nose masks to food vendors at Salman, I say God should bless them for the support, I am most grateful", she acknowledged her team.

She is, therefore, appealing to other benevolent organizations to come to her aid by supporting her to manufacture more nose masks and also support her with Veronica buckets and alcoholic-based hand sanitizers to be distributed to all the villages in the Ellembelle District.

So far, Western Region has recorded 9 positive cases of Coronavirus with no death. Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has recorded 7 cases and Nzema East Municipality on other hand has recorded 2.
