Clubs who prevent television coverage to suffer points deduction

Recalcitrant Premier League clubs who have no respect for professionalism and high marketing standards will have no option than to abandon their primitive methods of stopping television coverage of their matches or suffer points deduction.

This decision was reached when the Ghana FA held a 3-day football brainstorming summit in Cape Coast to strategise for the way forward of Ghana football.

The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association after the summit have announced that clubs that prevent television rights owners, StarTimes from telecasting their matches live shall forfeit the points for that particular game.

"We are going to enhance sanctions for the infringements on the rights of our sponsors.

"So clubs that prevent our television rights owners, StarTimes from telecasting their matches will lose the points for that game,"Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

"We saw last season that some clubs prevented StarTimes from telecasting their matches and all these shall be punishable by points deduction if they happen again," he added.

Aduana Stars and Bechem United notoriously stopped StarTimes from telecasting their games with Asante Kotoko and Great Olympics respectively in the just ended Premier League - an act that the Ghana FA vehemently kicked against.

These are attempts seeking to sanitise the system to ensure an enabling environment for a very professional league.
