Christ the King maidens win MTG United for Peace Football Tournament

Friday saw Christ the King maidens scooped the coveted Winners Prize in the MTG United for Peace Football Tournament.

The tournament is an initiative from the stables of Modern Times Group AB (MTG,) the mother company of Viasat 1 Ghana, as part of their corporate social responsibility. This is a yearly program which has been ran for four consecutive years with the male counterparts enjoying the share but now it was time for the females to have a feel of the entertainment. The venue for this year’s was the Alsyd Academy in Dworwulu, Accra.

The atmosphere was a brilliant one from the arrival of schools, to school of tolerance, then speech by the CEO; the keenly contested football tournament began, and then it was time to award the maidens who had played their hearts out.

The project which is in accordance to the pledge to the world to imbibe the essence of peace saw Christ the King as Winners, Alsyd Academic as 1st runner up and SOS Herman Gmeiner as the 2nd runner up. The winner will be flown to Norway for a championship and a workshop on peace.

In a brief interview with Ekuba Quayenortey, Marketing Manager Viasat Broadcasting Ghana Ltd, she buttress on the reason for the gathering which were, ‘to bring together children of diverse cultures and schools of thought to explain and understand the essence of peace especially through football, also to maintain a positive but enviable Top of Mind Awareness (TOMA) of Viasat 1 in the Ghanaian television market, especially among young families and lastly to build MTG peace ambassadors among active and retired famous Ghanaian footballers’.

MTG United for Peace Football Tournament is a Charity, for Children, which gives children the chance to meet and make friends through football. Once again we congratulate Christ the King as winners.
