Ghana midfielder Christian Atsu has expressed his excitement following Newcastle United's 1-0 victory over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

After 10 games, the Magpies were without a win and occupied just a place above the foot of the table with only two points. However, a 65th minute goal by substitute Ayoze Perez, who came on for Yoshinori Muto, changed the narratives for the first time this season.

Atsu, who has struggled so far this season, was an unused substitute. The former Chelsea midfielder expressed his delight after the victory and wants his teammates to build on it as they hope to avoid the drop.

Atsu boasts of one start this campaign and has lasted 186 minutes on the field as compared to the 457 minutes he had at this time last season.

Newcastle have moved to 17th position with five points, one point above safety and will host AFC Bournemouth next week.
