Anas exposé: Investigation was focused on GFA not politics - Baako

Abdul Malik Kweku Baakom the Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide has stated that the investigations which was conducted by Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas is solely for the purpose of exposing the corrupt system centered on the Ghana Football Assocation (GFA).

The exposé which is named Number 12 and is to be aired on June 6 and 7 at the Accra International Conference Center has received a lot of criticisms from many people and has called to question the reaction of President Akufo Addo after viewing.

According to Mr Baako, the GFA boss Kwesi Nyantekyi had only mentioned some few politicians in the the video whom he had stated that through them, businesses can be done in the country and he is connected to them.

He furhter added that 95% of the investigations were focused on the sport hub of the country.

He said, ‘Let me tell you something that whole thing was football corruption. If Mr. Nyantakyi whose name now I am able to mention now for good reason, if he had not, we are talking football sponsorship…if he had not peddled influence, mentioning political establishment, you think the President of Ghana would have had the chance to watch the portions concerning him?

That is 95% football. In the process of investigation, somebody decides to create the impression that he is so influential in a particular jurisdiction that besides football sponsorship if you want contracts he can assist you'.



According to Mr Baako had earlier stated that the politicians, whose names were mentioned such as the Deputy Minister for roads and Mr Anthony Abayifa Karbo, would be given the chance to clarify their names.

Mr Karbo had however been invited by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and was discharged after a short meeting without any charges brought against him.



He added, ‘That was the reason why we gave the President the chance to watch the video because his name was mentioned.’
