Algeria's weather not good for football - Yusif Abubakar bemoans lose to ES Setif

The severe weather condition in Algiers was the main reason Aduana Stars were beaten in their CAF Champions League second leg encounter against Algerian side ES Setif, according to head coach of the Dormaa side Yusif Abubakar.

Aduana were handed a humbling 4-0 defeat to crash out of the competition via a 4-1 aggregate score after the first leg ended 1-0 to Aduana.

It was always going to be a herculean task for Aduana ahead of the second leg at the Stade 8 Mai 1945, but Abubakar was adamant his side would have had a better opportunity but for the freezing cold temperatures in Algiers.

“They are a good team that plays good football, but if you want to be fair, this weather should not be accepted for football games,” he said

“If you have to take advantage of this weather to win a football game then it doesn’t help football.

“If they think they will be using this to beat teams from West Africa then they will be in trouble when they come to West Africa and have to face very hot temperatures.

“I’m not saying they are a bad team, but CAF needs to look into some of these things.”

Aduana Stars will now take part in the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs with 15 other teams who have fallen out of the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
