Clergyman worried over ascendancy in social vices

The Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has asked churches to strengthen their youth ministries to help champion the cause of the youth.

These ministries should be made more vibrant to provide counseling and guidance services to the youth, he stressed.

He described as troubling the waywardness of the present generation of young people, adding that, they need to be assisted to stay focused in life and do away with reprehensible lifestyles.

Rev. Dr Opuni-Frimpong was delivering the sermon at an Easter service at the Santasi Presbyterian Church in Kumasi.

He said the resurrection of Christ brings to mankind hope, adding that, this should inspire all to live in peace with God, themselves and their neighbours.

He called on Christians to live by the true teachings of the Bible and to mirror Christ-like qualities of love, humility, self-discipline, care and affection for the poor.

Rev. Opuni-Frimpong, urged Christians to pray fervently to God for his continued blessings upon the nation.

At the Atonsu-Agogo Bethel Presbyterian Church, the Minister in-charge, Rev, Akwasi Yeboah, appealed to Ghanaians to accept to live in peace and genuine national reconciliation.

He said, it should not be lost on anyone that there could not be progress in an atmosphere of fear, suspicion and animosity.

Rev. Yeboah said, the resurrection of Christ has brought hope and tranquility to the society and he therefore advised Christians to provide the needed leadership to assist all to live as brothers and sisters. **
