As police at Buipe failed to arrest a Matron who stole food items of her school, another Matron has been caught for allegedly stealing large quantity of food stuff belonging to her school meant to support the Free Senior High School Policy.

Madam Grace Abudu, Matron of Tolon Senior High School was caught allegedly diverting the foods just weeks after her colleague at Buipe Senior High School who was also arrested with bus full of food stuff went missing after she was handed over to the police.

The youth of Tolon intercepted a tricycle travelling towards Tamale carrying loads of tucked food items. The tricycle was monitored by some students as it left the bushy school campus where loaded the items.

The tricycle was led to the campus before after the youth seized the items and all the school stakeholders were invited before a search was conducted.

Three “jerry” Cans of cooking oil, two bags of beans, Five bags of rice, packs of detergents and several tin of tomatoes were found in the tricycle.

Madam Grace reportedly admitted to stealing the food items but later claimed she was sending to a mill in Tamale.

Assembly man for Nayiligfong electoral area, Mohammed Samed Chantiwuni said he together with the PTA chairman formed a vigilante group after numerous reports of food shortage in the school.

He said they had information about the Matron’s dealings but they wanted evidences.

Some said when the items were brought back and the search was conducted, the Matron insisted items were meant for mill but later confessed when the tin of milk and cans of oil which she had concealed separately were uncovered.

The case has been reported to police and the district education authorities, the assemblyman says, adding that police had left the Matron after taking her statement which he described as worrying.
