The incident occurred as the Chalas were preparing an annual ritual to welcome the cultivation of yam.

According to an eyewitness, the Chalas had to traverse the land of the Akyodes to perform the ritual for the New Yam season but were prevented from doing so, a situation that led to a free-for-all clash.

The residents fled the scene and went into hiding as the security agencies stormed the area.

ASP Ayensu William Asare, the Nkwanta South police commander confirmed the incident to Class News.
